Hidden Warriors:  Introduction

The Hidden Warriors are the bravest amongst us in a spiritual war of remarkable dimensions. They live quiet, hidden lives. But when found, they submit to imprisonment, torture, rape, and murder before denying their belief in Day Star, or the One better known as Jesus Christ.

Warriors are seriously persecuted on almost every continent today. An estimated 43 million have died for their Warrior beliefs since the death of Jesus, the Day Star. More than 200 million in over 60 nations live under the threat of imprisonment, torture, and death at this present hour. Children make up 60 percent of that number. It is estimated that every three minutes a Warrior perishes for his faith.

Up until the 20th Century, an estimated 34,400 Warriors had perished per year. By mid-20th Century, an estimated 160,000 Warriors had perished per year. Today, an estimated 164,000 are dying per year. If current trends continue, it is estimated that by 2025 an average of 210,000 Warriors will die for their beliefs each year. [Statistics from David B. Barrett and Todd M. Johnson in their mission report: 2002 Annual Statistical Table ]

"There have been more Christians killed in the 20th century than in the previous nineteen centuries combined." -- U.S. House Resolution. Scripps-Howard News Service, September 28, 1996

"We ought to be marching in the streets because our brethren are being persecuted, imprisoned, beaten, sold into slavery, and butchered, and we don’t seem to care in this country." -- Chuck Colson, September 16, 1996, Focus on the Family radio program

"This has been a century of unmatched Christian martyrdom. It began with the mass murder of Christians in Armenia; it is ending with the mass murder of Christians in Sudan. Then as now, the world looked away, even as it looked away during the most unspeakable mass murder of all, the Holocaust." --Jeff Jacoby, Boston Globe, December 4, 1996.
