God's Thoughts on the Bible & Notes on Hebrew
4:12
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 -- All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of
God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
- Deuteronomy 4:2 -- Ye shall not add unto the word which I
command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye
may keep the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command
you.
- Matthew 4:4b -- It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of
God.
- John 8:31 -- Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on
him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.
- John 17:17 -- Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth.
- James 1:22,25 -- But be ye doers of the word, and not
hearers only, deceiving your own selves. But whoso looketh into
the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not
a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be
blessed in his deed.
- Psalm 119:105 -- Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a
light unto my path.
- Revelation 22:18-19 -- For I testify unto every man that
heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall
add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that
are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from
the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his
part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from
the things which are written in this book.
- 2 Timothy 2:15 -- Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the
word of truth.
- Hebrews 4:12 -- For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and
marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart.

Note what is said about the Word of God "piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit." A major difficulty that
Christians have is to discern what is spiritual--where Christ is on
the throne of the human spirit--and what is led by human emotions.
Some Christians live almost entirely in the realm of their
feelings. For this reason, the divorce rate in the Church in some
places is as high or higher than on the outside. Christians have
been led by their emotions [too often fed by the culture] to feel
they are no longer in love with their mates. Therefore, they are
convinced that the relationship must end. They miss the
understanding that comes from the Word of God that love is not a
feeling but a commitment. Good feelings follow commitment.
Too, a Christ-enthroned human spirit sees world affairs
differently. Such a Christian will see the place for personal
pacifism with personal enemies. They will see the need to turn the
other cheek. At the same time, the Spirit-led Christian will wisely
understand the Scriptural mandate that God requires government
powers to punish evildoers. The person whose human spirit is
Spirit-led will wisely discern whether governmental action is
needful to keeping the Gospel free or for justice to be done.
It is the Word of God that gives men the spiritual insight as to
what is God-led and what is emotion-led. To be emotion-led is to
walk in error.
