Homosexuality
- Leviticus 18:22 (homosexuality)
-
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is
abomination.
- Romans 1:26 (homosexuality)
-
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even
their women did change the natural use into that which is
against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural
use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men
with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in
themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge,
God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which
are not convenient.
Numerous resources are available to the Christian who seeks to
better understand this subject. The primary points that we wish to
make about homosexuality are as follows:
- God loves the homosexual. For homosexuals, He also died.
We should regard them with the same dignity.
- God hates the behavior of homosexuality. It is
condemned. It is condemned because it is against His design
of the family and the human body. Few homosexuals live into
their fifties. This breaks God’s heart.
- Homosexuality breeds in a society that is prosperous,
lazy, and without compassion according to Ezekiel 16:49. A
family would do well to provide an environment where
children do not get all they want, are not lazy, and have
compassion for the poor. Sadly, multitudes of parents today
work two jobs, if not four between both parents. Yet, their
sons and daughters do no more than go to school and complain
about a possible chore. Parents are exhausted and cannot
deal with child-training. But this is the environment in
which sexual sin breeds.
- A person who has a possible confusion or weakness in
regards to his or her sexuality, or even a genetic or
hormonal predisposition to homosexuality need not act out on
this. In the same way that heterosexual young people must
remain chaste until God provides the proper mate, so must
those who think themselves homosexual. A person may remain
successfully abstinent in this culture, regardless. This
means, too, keeping a wholesome mind uncluttered with sexual
fantasy.
Heterosexual Christians need to be educated to the struggles of
the homosexual and the homosexually inclined. But although we remain
compassionate, we cannot be tolerant of the behavior. God hates it.
We must, too.
