I.  Notes on Prayer

divider4

Prayer, in Scripture, is addressed to God the Father and to the Son but never to the Holy Spirit, distinctively.

Prayer is offered in the Name of Jesus [John 14:13]. The prayer must accord with His character and must be presented in the same spirit of dependence and submission that marked Him.

The Holy Spirit is the sole Interpreter of the needs of the human heart. God-directed prayer is impossible to man apart from His help [Rom. 8:26.] Believers, therefore, are exhorted to pray in the Spirit. [Eph. 6:18; Jude 20; James 5:16].

The understanding / the will is to be engaged in prayer. [1 Cor. 14:15; Acts 12:5; Lk. 22:44].

Faith is essential to prayer. [Matt. 21:22; Mk. 11:24; James 1:5-8]
