III.  The word “gift / free gift”

Dorea / δωρεá
Pronunciation:  do-reh-ah;
Description:  Denotes a free gift, stressing its gratuitous character. Always used in the N.T. of a spiritual or supernatural gift; a gratuity.

John 4:10
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift [dorea] of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Acts 2: 38
And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift [dorea] of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:19,20
