VIII. Living Within the Lord's Camp
One does not take residency in the Lord’s camp through an
accumulation of personal good, attempts to be good, or religious
ritual. The only way that one can take up residency in the Kingdom
of God is through a spiritual birth. Experiencing this gives one a
new nationality and a new King.

information on becoming a Christian, if needed.
Happy is the man, woman, or child who takes up residency within
the Lord's camp. Happier still is the one who chooses to obey the
Commander in all things and to train those of the lesser ranking to
do so as well.

A. General Exhortation
These are traits found of those who obey the King:
- Proverbs 20:7 (integrity)
-
The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed
after him.
- Psalm 103:17-18 (reverence for God / obedience to
commands)
-
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting
upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's
children; to such as keep his covenant, and to those that
remember his commandments to do them.
- Proverbs 23:15-16 (wisdom / controlled tongue)
-
My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even
mine. Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right
things.
- Proverbs 27:11 (wisdom)
-
My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him
that reproacheth me.
- Psalm 144:11-12 (Truthfulness / children mature)
-
Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose
mouth speaks vain words, and whose right hand is a right hand of
falsehood--that our sons may be as plants grown up in their
youth; that our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in
palace style. NKJV
- Proverbs 6:20-23 (obedience)
-
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law
of thy mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie
them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when
thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it
shall talk with thee.

B. A Recruit's Place Of Training
The Lord requires that we raise each child to be "diligent to
present [himself] approved to God, a workman who does not need to be
ashamed, rightly dividing (accurately handling) the word of truth"
(2 Timothy 2:15). To accomplish this, a child must, first, go
through spiritual boot-camp.
This is to be done within protected areas—those places occupied
by the allies. An occasional sortie into enemy lands may be
permitted if that child will be tested but with every possibility
for success.
The child must be equipped in such a contest with adequate armor
and weaponry, the proper training, and the necessary ground support.
Prior successes (in battle zones of less severity) are also vital to
a successful training mission.
C. Results
- Proverbs 23:24-25 (rejoicing!)
-
The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that
begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy
mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
- Proverbs 13:22 (prosperity!)
-
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children:
and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
- Isaiah 49:25 (salvation!)
-
But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall
be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered:
for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I
will save thy children.
- Proverbs 3:22 (life!)
-
My son, let not them [God's ways] depart from thine eyes: keep
sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy
soul, and grace to thy neck. Then shalt thou walk in thy way
safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. When thou liest down,
thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy
sleep shall be sweet.
- Proverbs 12:8a (honor!)
-
A man shall be commended according to his wisdom.
- 2 Chronicles 16:9a (protection!)
-
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole
earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart
is perfect toward him.

D. Success Of The Righteous
1. Eunice and Lois / Timothy
- 2 Timothy 1:5 (Timothy's mother/ grandmother)
-
When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee,
which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother
Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
- Phil. 2:20,22 (Timothy)
-
For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your
state. But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the
father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
2. Noah / Noah's Family
- Genesis 6:9 (Noah)
-
These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and
perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
- Genesis 7:1,7 (Noah's sons / sons' wives)
-
And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into
the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this
generation. And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and
his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of
the flood.
3. Philip / Philip's Family
- Acts 6:3,5 (Philip)
-
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest
report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint
over this business. And the saying pleased the whole multitude:
and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy
Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and
Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch.
- Acts 21:9 (Philip's daughters)
-
And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did
prophesy.
4. Mordecai / Esther
- Esther 10:3 (Mordecai)
-
For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great
among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren,
seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his
seed.
- Esther 2:7 (Mordecai)
-
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's
daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid
was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and
mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
- Esther 2:20 (Esther)
-
Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as
Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of
Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.
- Esther 4:16b (Esther)
-
I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in
unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I
perish, I perish.
5. Jephthah / Jephthah's Daughter
- Judges 11:11 (Jephthah)
-
When Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people
made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all
his words before the Lord in Mizpeh.
- Hebrews 11:32-34 (Jephthah--man of faith)
-
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of
Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David
also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued
kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the
mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge
of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in
fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
- Judges 11:36,39a (Jephthah's daughter--child of
trust)
-
And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth
unto the Lord, do to me according to that which hath proceeded
out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the Lord hath taken vengeance for
thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon. And it
came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto
her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had
vowed.
