VII. Love for Goodness or the Lack of that Love

- 2 Thes. 2:9
- The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will
be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with
all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they
refused to love the truth [the love
(agape) of the truth] and so
be saved.
- Titus 1:7-8
- For a bishop, as God's steward, must be blameless; he must
not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or
greedy for gain, but hospitable
[philoxenos], a lover of
goodness [philogathos], master of himself, upright, holy, and
self-controlled.
- Heb. 1:8-9
- But of the Son he says, "Thy throne, O God, is for ever and
ever, the righteous scepter is the scepter of thy kingdom. Thou
hast loved
[agapao] righteousness and hated lawlessness;
therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of
gladness beyond thy comrades."
- 1 Peter 3:10
- For "He that would love life [consult the true interests of
living; to love
(agapao) life] and see good days, let him keep
his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking guile.
