VI. Love in Man for God or Man and General Love Verses

Matt. 24:12: And because wickedness is multiplied, most men's love [agape] will grow cold.

Romans 5:5: And hope does not disappoint us, because God's love [agape] has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.

Romans 15:30: I appeal to you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love [agape] of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf.

1 Cor. 8:1-3: Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." "Knowledge" puffs up, but love [agape] builds up. If any one imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if one loves [agapao] God, one is known by him.

1 Cor. 13:1-8a,13: If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [agape], I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love [agape], I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love [agape], I gain nothing. Love [agape] is patient and kind; love [agape] is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love [agape] does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love [agape] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love [agape] never ends… So faith, hope, love [agape] abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love [agape].

2 Cor. 5:14: For the love [agape] of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died.

Gal. 5:6: For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith working through love [agape].

Gal. 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love [agape], joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23. gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.

Eph. 3:17-19: And that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love [agape], may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love [agape] of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fulness of God.

Phil. 1:9: And it is my prayer that your love [agape] may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment.

Phil. 1:15-16: Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love [agape], knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.

Col. 1:7-8: As you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf and has made known to us your love [agape] in the Spirit.

Philemon 1:4-5: I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, because I hear of your love [agape] and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and all the saints.

Philemon 1:7: For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love [agape], my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.

Jude 1:21: Keep yourselves in the love [agape] of God; wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Rev. 2:4: But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love [agape] you had at first.

Rev. 2:19: I know your works, your love [agape] and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first.
