01. The Local Church / Local Church Leadership
- Acts 1:14
- All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer
[proseuche], together with the women and Mary the mother of
Jesus, and with his brothers.
- Acts 2:42
- And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers
[proseuche].
- Acts 6:4
- But we will devote ourselves to prayer [proseuche] and to
the ministry of the word."
- Acts 6:6
- These they set before the apostles, and they prayed
[proseuchomai] and laid their hands upon them.
- Acts 9:14
- And here he [Saul] has authority from the chief priests to
bind all who call upon [epikaleomai] thy name."
- Acts 9:21
- And all who heard him were amazed, and said, "Is not this
the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called on
[epikaleomai] this name? And he has come here for this purpose,
to bring them bound before the chief priests."
- Acts 12:5
- So Peter was kept in prison; but earnest [lit. “stretched
out”] prayer [proseuche] for him was made to God by the church.
- Acts 12:12
- When he [Peter] realized this, he went to the house of Mary,
the mother of John whose other name was Mark, where many were
gathered together and were praying [proseuchomai].
- Acts 13:2-3
- While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy
Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to
which I have called them." Then after fasting and praying
[proseuchomai]; they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
- Phil. 1:19
- Yes, and I [Paul] shall rejoice. For I know that through
your prayers [deesis] and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ
this will turn out for my deliverance.

02. The Apostle Paul
- Acts 9:11
- And the Lord said to him, "Rise and go to the street called
Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for a man of Tarsus
named Saul; for behold, he is praying [proseuchomai].
- Acts 16:25
- But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying
[proseuchomai]; and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were
listening to them.
- Acts 18:18
- After this Paul stayed many days longer, and then took leave
of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and with him Priscilla and
Aquila. At Cenchre-ae he cut his hair, for he had a vow [euche].
- Acts 20:36
- And when he had spoken thus, he knelt down and prayed
[proseuchomai] with them all. And they all wept and embraced
Paul and kissed him.
- Acts 28:8
- It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever
and dysentery; and Paul visited him and prayed [proseuchomai];
and putting his hands on him healed him.
- Romans 1:9-10
- For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the
gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in
my prayers [proseuche], asking [deomai] that somehow by God's
will I may now at last succeed in coming to you.
- 2 Cor. 1:23
- (Simple English N.T.) I call upon [epikaleomai] God as my
Witness; He knows my motives: I didn't go back again to Corinth,
because I didn't want to hurt you.
- Eph. 1:16
- I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my
prayers [proseuche].
- Phil. 1:3-4
- I thank [eucharisteo] my God in all my remembrance of you,
always in every prayer [deesis] of mine for you all making my
prayer [deesis] with joy.
- 2 Tim. 1:3
- I thank God whom I serve with a clear conscience, as did my
fathers, when I remember you constantly in my prayers [deesis].

03. Paul and his Team
- Acts 14:23
- And when they had appointed elders for them in every church,
with prayer [proseuchomai] and fasting, they committed them to
the Lord in whom they believed.
- Acts 21:5
- And when our days there were ended, we departed and went on
our journey; and they all, with wives and children, brought us
on our way till we were outside the city; and kneeling down on
the beach we prayed [proseuchomai] and bade one another
farewell.
- 1 Thes. 1:2-3
- We give thanks to God always for you all, constantly
mentioning you in our prayers [proseuche], remembering before
our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and
steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 1 Thes. 3:9-13
- For what thanksgiving [eucharistia] can we render to God for
you, for all the joy which we feel for your sake before our God,
praying [deomai] earnestly night and day that we may see you
face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith? Now may
our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way
to you; and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to
one another and to all men, as we do to you, so that he may
establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and
Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

04. Individuals
- Luke 1:13
- But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for
your prayer [deesis] is heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear
you a son, and you shall call his name John.
- Luke 2:36-38
- And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanu-el,
of the tribe of Asher; she was of a great age, having lived with
her husband seven years from her virginity, and as a widow till
she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple,
worshiping with fasting and prayer [deesis] night and day. And
coming up at that very hour she gave thanks [anthomologeomai] to
God, and spoke of him to all who were looking for the redemption
of Jerusalem.
- Acts 8:14-15
- Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had
received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who
came down and prayed [proseuchomai] for them that they might
receive the Holy Spirit.
- Acts 9:40
- But Peter put them all outside and knelt down and prayed
[proseuchomai]; then turning to the body he said, "Tabitha,
rise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat
up.
- Acts 10:1
- At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of
what was known as the Italian Cohort, a devout man who feared
God with all his household, gave alms liberally to the people,
and prayed [deomai] constantly to God.
- Acts 10:4
- And he stared at him in terror, and said, "What is it,
Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers [proseuche] and your
alms have ascended as a memorial before God.
- Acts 10:9
- The next day, as they were on their journey and coming near
the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray [proseuchomai],
about the sixth hour.
- Acts 10:30-31
- And Cornelius said, "Four days ago, about this hour, I was
keeping the ninth hour of prayer [proseuchomai] in my house; and
behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel saying,
'Cornelius, your prayer [proseuche] has been heard and your alms
have been remembered before God.
- Acts 11:4-5
- But Peter began and explained to them in order: "I was in
the city of Joppa praying [proseuchomai]; and in a trance I saw
a vision, something descending, like a great sheet, let down
from heaven by four corners; and it came down to me.
- Acts 21:23-24a
- Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are
under a vow [euche]; take these men and [ceremonially] purify
yourself along with them.
- Col. 4:12
- Epaphras, who is one of yourselves, a servant of Christ
Jesus, greets you, always remembering you earnestly in his
prayers [proseuche], that you may stand mature and fully assured
in all the will of God.
- 1 Tim. 5:5
- She who is a real widow, and is left all alone, has set her
hope on God and continues in supplications [deesis] and prayers
[proseuche] night and day.
- Philemon 1:22
- At the same time, prepare a guest room for me, for I am
hoping through your prayers [proseuche] to be granted to you.
- James 5:17-18
- Elijah was a man of like nature with ourselves and he prayed
fervently [proseuche] [proseuchomai] [lit. “he prayed with
prayer] that it might not rain, and for three years and six
months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed
[proseuchomai] again and the heaven gave rain, and the earth
brought forth its fruit.
